      AberClaret Red Clover

Traditional red clovers only last two to three years in cutting leys. AberClaret Red Clover is the first of a generation of new long-term red clovers bred at Germinal Horizon Aberystwyth, where scientists have dramatically extended the life of red clover leys. AberClaret can persist for 4-5 years under cutting and is significantly more tolerant of grazing by dairy cattle.

      Silage production experts

Ask a Germinal expert today if you want to know where to find Germinal’s Aber HSG 2 (Later Cut) grass seed mixture for silage.

Heading date average for Aber HSG 2 Later Cut is 5 June for central Britain.

When cutting for silage, aim to cut 5-10 days before the average heading date for optimum quality. The optimum spread of heading dates within mixtures for grazing and cutting results in better performance of the leys.
